My name is chet, and i live in Athens, GA, with my lovely wife Claire. downtown community fellowship is our home church where i serve in leadership. We have a dog Daphney (a little Jack Russell who is a handful).

We live in a unique time in history. Never before has so much information (and misinformation) been available. In this complex world it is easy to get distracted from the most important questions we must all face, and we often find ourselves struggling to know what the best course of action is. The purpose of this blog is to help us view the routine (and not so routine) things of life through the lens of loving God and loving people (Matthew 22:36-40), and to better understand our place in this world and what we should pursue with our short lives.

I love the name of your church, DOWNTOWN COMMUNITY FELLOWSHIP. Recently did a course called COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION. See the need today of churches changing from being so inward focused (us four and no more) and becoming outward community focused. The kingdom of God needs to touch every aspect of society, local church just being a part of the community, but the community also includes, education, government, media and the business working world. The church, you and me, need to impact all of these aspects of community.
bless you guys in your marriage and as you server Jesus Christ. May you truly impact your community.

Good site, Chet. You get to the heart of what a relationship with God – and other humans – is all about, with none of the “religious” trappings. I gave up on church a long time ago (for many reasons), but I hunger for the truth and strive to serve God. I am convinced that the main reason we are here is to try to learn how to truly love – a difficult task, indeed.

    Thanks!
